In the heart of Dodoma’s Mpwapwa Ward, Luhundwa Village is home to the inspiring HAMASIKA women’s group. Formed in 2021 with only a handful of members, the group has since grown to include over 25 dedicated women. Through their hard work and determination, they have successfully cultivated sunflowers, raising their capital to an impressive 12 million Tanzanian shillings.
Trained by MVIWATA, a local NGO and partner of AMDT, the women of HAMASIKA have gained valuable skills and knowledge that have significantly boosted their agricultural productivity and financial independence. This partnership has empowered the group to transform their lives and contribute to their community’s economic growth.
Below, you’ll find images of the HAMASIKA women’s group, showcasing their unity and collective spirit, as well as a highlight of one member with her machine that has been instrumental in their sunflower cultivation efforts.
